Academics

Serving the people of American Samoa, the United States
New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific

Kanana Fou Theological Seminary is the theological training institution of the Congregational Christian Church in American Samoa (CCCAS). As such, all academic instruction that is offered at Kanana Fou is geared towards the advancement of the mission and ministry of the CCCAS as the church who is called and sent forth into the world by Jesus Christ.

Kanana Fou currently offers two academic programs: the Diploma in Theology and the Bachelor of Divinity . There is also a Women's Studies Program designed to train Student Wives for ministry together with their husbands in the CCCAS.

Since 1983, Kanana Fou has been a 4-year academic institution offering theological instruction towards the Diploma in Theology, the primary qualification for pastoral ordination in the CCCAS. But with the urgency to keep pace with the development of theological academia in the Pacific, coupled with the responsibility of providing the CCCAS and other Pacific island churches with servants who are academically and theologically capable of ministering the gospel to todays rapidly changing world, Kanana Fou launched the Bachelor of Divinity program in 1997, designed specifically to offer theological education beyond the traditional Diploma in Theology.

Both programs are accredited by the South Pacific Association of Theological Schools (SPATS) in Suva, Fiji.
